Search Keyword Answer Time!

I haven't done one of these in awhile and had a pile of unusual search keywords and queries piling up on my computer, so I figured it was time to pull them out and respond to them. These are some of the things people were searching for when they stumbled across my blog.

#41 great song
This led them to my Top 100 Showtunes series, in which my #41 was "A Summer In Ohio" from The Last 5 Years. Let's just assume this answers their question. Yes, searcher, that song is the 41st greatest song of all time.

my boyfriend loves beetlejuice
Cool! Mine too! Let's be friends!

worship songs about contentment
worship somgs with contentment theme
Off the top of my head, "Blessed Be Your Name" is a biggie. But the first song I thought of was "Gratitude" by Nichole Nordeman. Not quite a worship song, but still a fantastic one.

..to be willing to march into hell for a heavenly cause lyrics means
These are lyrics from the musical Man of La Mancha's great song "The Impossible Dream." Given the theme of the rest of the song, you'd think you'd be able to figure out these lyrics, but here goes: It's a metaphorical reference to being willing to undergo something awful and terrible (such as hell) to accomplish something good (such as a heavenly cause).

introverts at walmart
introvert going to walmart
We do go to Walmart. It's a nice place to go for introverts, I guess, because it's often pretty low on like... aggressive customer service, so nobody asks you if you need anything. That's cool.

introverts perceived as emotionally distant
introvert distance friends
I'm sure I've shared this story before on this blog, but I once had an acquaintance tell me, "You're an introvert because you're emotionally distant." I was a bit taken aback, and I said, "I'm not emotionally distant from people. I often like to be physically distant from people, but that's not the same." She responded, "But you're physically distant because you want to be emotionally distant." Sigh. Here's the thing. Introverts can be emotionally distant in the sense that they don't just like... spew their emotions all over everybody or open up easily to not-that-close acquaintances, but I'm often very open about my emotions with my friends or those who I feel actually want to listen. Like on this blog. Just because an introvert has not chosen to be emotionally close to you does not mean they are emotionally distant from everyone.

ghost and tbe darkness song dinodaur
I'm pretty sure The Ghost and the Darkness didn't have a song about a dinosaur, but the typo just made me think of the old home video we have where my then-3-year-old brother was marching around with his hand shaped into claws yelled, "I'M A BIG DINODAUR!"

introvert nightmare
People EVERYWHERE, all trying to talk small talk to you. Forever.

statuses about july
Apparently July is worthy enough to have a bunch of statuses of its own. I'm pretty sure I haven't written any, though.

introvert online
There are many. This seems to be our domain. So that's fun.

top 5 and bottom 5 moments in sweeney todd
That is really specific. I'm not going to answer this one, because it's been quite awhile since I last checked out any form of Sweeney, but if anyone wants to chime in with their favorites, go for it.

stonehenge movie
An entire movie all about Stonehenge? Stonehenge Apocalypse seems to be the best one. It's got Misha Collins in it, so that's nice.

shopping online is ideal for introverts
It really is.

lies about introverts "exhausted:
I'm not sure what this person is asking. Are they trying to find out whether people lie about introverts being exhausted? I'm sure that's an excuse I've used when I didn't want to socialize. "I'm exhausted" can mean either "I am very physically tired" or "I am very socially tired," and though I typically mean the second, it can be interpreted as the first. Though that's not a lie as much as it is just a convenient misunderstanding.

Speaking of being exhausted, my arthritic fingers are falling off and I am going to have to put the rest of these search keywords on hold for another day.

Search Keyword Help Time!

(Your regularly schedule Top 100 Showtunes will return next Friday. I haven't quite finished writing the newest one up, so have this blog that IS finished! Well, mostly. But I can cover the rest some other time.)

The last couple weeks have yielded quite an interesting selection of search keywords used to find my blog. Time to answer some more of the Internet's burning questions.

how do you have a sunday nap on the couch on the sims?
A nap on the couch on Sunday isn't any different a nap on the couch on any other day. You wait until Sunday, click on the couch, and then click "nap." You don't get extra resting points for it being Sunday.

rejuvenating activities for introverts
Well, introverts are all obviously different people and can find different things rejuvenating, here are some of the things I find rejuvenating as an introvert:
  • Deep conversations
  • One-on-one time with a close friend
  • Being the only one in a movie theater showing
  • Libraries
  • Lying on my bed with my eyes closed, listening to music I love
  • Medium long road trips
Feel free to share your favorite introverted rejuvenation activities in the comments!

edward scissorhands characters
Edward Scissorhands, Kim, Peg and Jim are the main ones, according to IMDb. It's been a little while since I've seen it, but I do remember Kim is the daughter, Peg is the mom, and Jim is the evil boyfriend. And Edward Scissorhands is the guy with scissors for hands and crazy hair.

creepiest showtunes
I highly recommend my Halloween Showtunes Mix. A few I'd recommend that aren't on there: Unworthy of Your Love from Assassins (hecka creepy if you know what it's about) and the judge's version of Johanna from Sweeney Todd.

introverts do not hate small talk because we dislike
...people. We hate small talk because we hate the barrier it creates between people.

A great quote from a great book: Laurie Helgoe's "Introvert Power: Why Your Inner Life is Your Hidden Strength."

should a blogger mention she is unpublished?
If you mention it, the blogger gods come and take your blog away from you. I don't know how I've escape it for so long.

han solo was the mercenary with a heart of gold
He sure was! He was also my first crush. Incidentally, I'm pretty sure he was the only mercenary-with-a-heart-of-gold movie character I ever had a crush on. I quickly transitioned over to platonic-wisecracking-underdog-nerd-friend-who-is-so-much-better-than-the-boring-hero-why-can't-she-see-that?

ghost vs dinosaurs
Well, dinosaurs are extinct. Ghost the movie is not only still around, but also got turned into a musical. I'd say Ghost wins this battle.

for what reason does romeo say the friar scolded him about rosaline
Somebody's looking up their homework answers on the Internet. Here, let me help you out, kid. Act 2, scene 3, line 37 (with the friar's wise response on line 38).

introvert lying to myself
This is intriguing to me. I'm not sure if this person is lying to themselves about being an extrovert (as I did before I realized extroversion didn't equal godliness), lying to themselves about being an introvert (because of wanting to appear deep? I don't know), or just lying to themselves in general and wonders if they should deal with it differently because of their introversion (probably not, although your struggle to accept the truth may be more internally motivated).

most bizarre glee performance
SO MANY TO CHOOSE FROM. I think I still have to go with the entire football team performing the Single Ladies dance in that very early episode, for the sole purpose of confusing the other team. It confused them, it confused me, and it confused everyone who watched that episode.

unknown movies with great music
It feels to me like the most obvious choice is little-known musicals, such as Company, Into the Woods, and Sunday in the Park With George. (So many of Sondheim's musicals have been filmed but so few of those movies have been seen by most people. Sad.)

Fun With Search Keywords!

I haven't looked at the search keywords used to reach my site in awhile... so here goes!

tiny stonehenge
Absolutely the funniest part of This Is Spinal Tap, IMHO.

are introverts emotionally distant?
Ah. Now this is a bit of a pet peeve for me. I once had someone tell me that I was an introvert because I was emotionally distant. I said, "No, I like to be physically distant from people. It's not the same thing." She responded, "Right, but you want to be physically distant because you're emotionally distant." Introverts may appear emotionally distant, but get to know an introvert one-on-one and they're just as likely as anyone else to open up emotionally.

(Incidentally, I told a group of introverted friends about that weird conversation when it happened. One person said I should have responded, "Introverts don't like to be emotionally distant. They're just selective about who they get close to, and obviously YOU WERE NOT CHOSEN." Which is absolutely the correct answer.)

famous people in musical theatre
This could mean two different things - it could mean people who are famous for being in musical theater, such as Bernadette Peters, Norbert Leo Butz, and Sherie Rene Scott. Or it could mean already-famous people who have also done musical theater, such as Hugh Jackman, Neil Patrick Harris, and Daniel Radcliffe. Either way, there are some options.

marius singing a lullaby
I am still fascinated by all the hits I get asking about Marius' lullaby. I mean, if anyone's going to search for that, it'll bring them here... I'm just surprised that many people are searching for it in that context at all.

misconceptions on introverts
This probably led them to one of my old posts, Introvert Misconceptions. However, if you're looking for other articles on this, I just discovered the excellent post 10 Myths About Introverts.

therapy introvert pouting
This search fascinated me so much I tried searching for it myself, hoping there was a weird theory that introverts who wanted to be extroverts could have pouting therapy. Or is it about introverts who are pouting because they have to be in therapy? Or introverts who need to go therapy because they pout and they don't want to pout anymore so they ask a therapist to help them? I have no idea what this person was looking for, but I don't think my site helped them much.

francis chan introvert
Well, he's definitely not one. Or if he is, he probably thinks he shouldn't be. Either way, he did some (probably unintentional) introvert-shaming in Crazy Love, which made me crazy and not in a love kind of way.

joco sad songs
Oh, there are so many and they are all awesome. I suggest Space Doggity, I Crush Everything, When You Go, Today With Your Wife, Christmas Is Interesting, I Hate California, Make You Cry, Blue Sunny Day and Redshirt.

my top best horror movie 2012
Well, mine was Cabin in the Woods, although I've only seen 18 movies total from 2012 and only two were horror (well, four if you count Tim Burton's movies from the year). Flickchart lists 2012's top horror movies as Cabin the Woods, Prometheus, ParaNorman, Frankenweenie and The Woman in Black.

character traits of peter appleton
If you mean the character from the movie The Majestic, he undergoes a major character change throughout the movie and spends much of it taking on the character traits of the person he thinks he is, so that's hard to pin down.
If you mean the American baseball player, scout, and manager... I dunno. His Wikipedia page makes him sound nice, I guess.

disney songs about death
That's a fun one. Let's see. There aren't all that many that I can think of, although there are plenty of songs about loss. Be Prepared is about planning to kill someone. So is The Mob Song. Are there any that aren't villainous? Surely there must be. But I can't think of any. If anyone else comes up with one, please chime in in the comments.

mouth man superhero
Well, that no doubt led them to this silly post about a hypothetical superhero whose mouth makes things de-age, but I have no idea what they were actually looking for. (If you search "mouth man superhero" sans quotation marks on Google, my blog is one of the only things that come up...)

movie used up all the emotion love
I don't think I've ever seen a movie that used up all my emotion love. I still have plenty of love to go around even after watching movies.

emotional purity between girl and guy
And that led them to my blog about why the Christian emotional purity message has some good intentions behind it but messed me the heck up in high school.

anti love songs 2012
My anti-love mix for 2012 can be found here. My anti-love mix for 2013 will be posted Wednesday, February 13 of this year, just in time for Valentine's Day.

dizzy like a fox the haunting
I didn't even remember what this one could mean, so I found the blog it pointed them to: my micro-review of The Haunting, where one of my comments is: "'Dizzy like a fox'? Are foxes known for being particularly dizzy?" Somebody else must have been equally confused by this idiom.

introvert greet
Fun fact: introverts greet others with "Hello," "Hi," or a handshake, almost like they were normal people!

OK, I suppose there could be introvert-specific greetings, but it's not like introverts don't like people and will be openly sad to see them all the time. Generally, introverts do greet people just the same as everyone else does.

Search Keyword Answer Time!

Let's see if I can help some of these people who've been searching.

what do you do if your noisetrade account says unpublished
Oh. Now, I can't help with that. I love NoiseTrade and I get their music all the time, but I'm not a musician, so I don't have an account on there to tell you how that works.

jesus car
Ew. You must've found this. Don't do that to your car. It's not cool.

neil patrick harris
He's pretty cool, isn't he? He can sing, he can dance, he can act. If you want to know about upcoming projects, IMDb says he's in... Smurfs 2. Why? Why does someone so smart and talented choose such terrible movie projects?

who has sung the most songs on glee
Now this one has taken some work. But I am nerdy enough to make it happen.

I only counted solo or mostly-solo performances. Duets or group numbers were left out. Otherwise, the answer is clearly New Directions, who have sung 37 songs (or 52, if you count "special" group numbers that were still essentially them - just the guys, just the girls, that one time they sang with Sue, when they battled the Trebletones, etc.).

After that, it's no contest. As I suspected, the winner is Rachel Berry, with an astonishing 26 solo performances over the 3 years Glee has been running. Second is Will Schuester, who earned almost all of those in his first year (he only got 2 solo numbers this past season). Most surprising find was how seldom they had Finn sing on his own. I feel like he sings all the time, but Kurt has more solo performances than he did. Heck, the Warblers got two more songs than Finn did. For someone who was hyped up as the alpha glee club male, he doesn't get the spotlight a whole lot, does he?

spinal tap tiny stonehenge
Best part of the movie.

how to tell if an introvert is lying
Well, it's really no easier to tell if an introvert is lying than it is to tell if an extrovert is lying. We don't have special lying powers or anything, although some introverts may be less demonstrative overall and therefore look pretty much the same when they're lying as they do when telling the truth. So usual lie detector methods work for us too.

flickchart me me
Now I can't tell if this is someone clamoring for Flickchart, or asking about a Flickchart meme. I looked to see if there was a movie called "Me Me" and someone just wanted to add it to their Flickchart, but no such longer. Not sure I can help them.

cgi dinosaurs
Here are some. I can't imagine my blog was terribly helpful with that before.

introvert christian woman
Ah, an interesting dynamic. I occasionally read stuff by feminists upset by how the (largely Christian) stereotype of good, virtuous women means they are quiet, unassuming and meek - interestingly, those are the most positive words used to describe introverts. So an introverted woman who is fighting against that stereotype and arguing that women can have other personalities must have some interesting discussions. It makes me think of how I occasionally feel bad that I'm introverted and was homeschooled, because I feel like I accidentally reinforce stereotypes by not being super social. Anyway. I don't have actually that much else to say about introvert Christian women. I am one.

Oh, to close out, here's a fun story about introversion and Christianity.

When I traveled with the drama company (I'll write some of those adventures up for the blog some day - it was a unique experience, and those of you who haven't heard any of the stories would probably enjoy them) we were always going to churches where people would prophesy over us. While I believe people can hear from God and prophecy is possible, I believe that it happens a whole lot less often than some people think it does. A lot of the time when people prophesy, they're just very good judges of character and can often guess accurately what a person needs to hear or have prayed for.

I developed a nice little method to help disqualify the not-from-God ones quickly: If anyone ever prayed for me and mentioned my "quiet and gentle spirit," I knew I could ignore it. "Quiet and gentle spirit" is Christianspeak for "I know nothing about you but you seem nice." If they used that, I figured it meant God hadn't shown them anything actually about me and they were just going on instinct.

It's also the phrase people use when you're in a Christian group and there's a "go around and say something nice about everybody" activity. That's the one I get from people who don't know me. "Quiet and gentle spirit." It's well-intentioned and I don't mind it or anything. It just makes me smile. Who would have thought there'd be such an easily identifiable compliment catch phrase for Christian introverts?

Search Keyword Helping Time!

Every so often I look at the search keywords people have used to find my site, and I think, "Well, I didn't answer that question in my blog. I'll do that NOW!"

So here are some of the search keywords used lately, and some mini answers to them.

10 mostly unknown movies
Here are 10 movies I've seen but most people have not, according to Flickchart:
1. Company: A Musical Comedy
2. Beautiful Boy
3. Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
4. Mozart and the Whale
5. L.A. Without a Map
6. The Boys Next Door
7. Amahl and the Night Visitors
8. The Courtship of Eddie's Father
9. The Bumblebee Flies Anyway
10. Who Am I This Time?

crazy love francis chan chapter 1
Chapter one of "Crazy Love" by Francis Chan is called "Stop Praying," and it is not the one that made me angry and drove me crazy. That one happened later.

derek webb democracy vol 2 mediafire
Hey now. While I highly suggest Derek Webb's Democracy albums, I'm not a fan of pirating them, since he is so fantastically fantastic in letting us get so much of his music free through NoiseTrade. When someone gives you something for free, you don't go and steal other stuff from them. That absolutely makes you the jerk. Also, NoiseTrade is awesome.

does marius sing eponine to sleep
Totally got this one before! I had no idea this was such a popular question, but I hope my blog can become the main source for answering it. When the Les Mis movie comes out, surely it will be even more popular, and I will become known on the Internet as the only person who knows the answer to this. THE ONLY ONE.

facebook apocalypse setting
This sounded exciting, so I googled it. But turns out all it is is another "OMG, Mark Zuckerberg is shutting down Facebook!" meme. However, it's kind of hilarious, because the fake press report includes this:
"Facebook has gotten out of control," said Zuckerberg in a press conference outside his Palo Alto office, "and the stress of managing this company has ruined my life. I need to put an end to all the madness."
Yup. If you run a company, you can't ever just hand it over to somebody else. This makes it sound like Zuckerberg is singlehandedly running the entire website on his own, and then had a bad day and decided to just give it all up. I'm pretty sure that's not how that's going to work.

relationship advice for men"when she pulls away"
I can't imagine anything they found on my blog was very helpful here. I don't tend to write relationship advice. But, uh, here goes: Men, if she pulls away, give her space. The End.

when introverts don't get alone time cranky
Yes, when introverts don't get alone time cranky.

katharine mcphee
If you were looking for a fan site, you came to the WRONG place.

bottom 2011 movies
bottom 5 2011 films
Mine are (in order from most awful to least awful) Hop, Paranormal Activity 3, Footloose, 30 Minutes or Less, and Unknown. I mostly saw movies I liked in 2011. I didn't see too many of the truly terrible ones.

Recent Search Keywords

I just wanted to take a brief look at some of the search keywords that have brought people to my blog over the past month or so, and examine whether or not my blog was helpful in answering their queries.

top 10 statuses
top 5 facebook statuses

I suspect these people wanted to know the top statuses of all time and although I would love to think mine were the best of all time, at least quality-wise, I have a feeling that the people looking for these were probably disappointed in what they found.

best unpublished comedy movies 2011

Because of the title of my blog, I get a lot of searches for unpublished songs, unpublished movies, etc. I, unfortunately, provide none of that.

does marius sing eponine a lullaby

Now I can answer this one! Kind of. "A Little Fall of Rain" is not really a song meant to put her to sleep, although I suppose she does fall asleep (forever) at the end of the song. She also does most of the singing. If anything, she's singing him a lullaby. But the song does have a bit of a lullaby quality to it, and at the end he gets very sweet and tender as he sings it to her. So although my vote would be "no," it's a debatable point.

ellen page hard candy

She sure was great in that, wasn't she?

favorite unknown movies

I did indeed write an entire blog post about that. I hope it gave them some good ideas!

how movie challenge got started

Now I have no idea about that one. I don't even know which of the many 10/15/30/50-day challenges came first. There were ones about movies and music and photo ones, but they all kind of overwhelmed my Facebook at the same time and, as I do, I am just now latching onto them after they have long worn out their welcome in the rest of the world.

introvert church

Best site to recommend there is Introverted Church, the blog of Adam S. McHugh, who wrote the amazing book "Introverts in the Church." If you are an introvert and you go to church, read it. If you are an extrovert and you go to church, read it.

introvert vs extrovert misconceptions

Oh, now that probably hit on a couple blog posts from way back when. That was always meant to be a continued series, the whole "misconceptions about us" thing, but then I didn't run into many more than I had already discussed.

introverts and lying

Oh, dear. Maybe my introvert lies blog post is going to spread and make it sound like introverts everywhere lie all the time. Which, well, I suppose we do. As do extroverts. As do people.

Helping Out My Google Search Friends

Middle-of-the-night in between Tuesday and Wednesday is now officially Cater to the Google Searches Blog Time!

I'm kind of fascinated by the search keywords that lead people to me. Most of the time, however, I suspect they're very disappointed when they find my blog, because I'm not really addressing their query. So I figured I would do my best to answer those queries here, once a week or so, so that if these people try again to find their answer I can be of more help this time around.

So, without further ado:

alfie boe
I'm afraid I don't know much about him, other than that he's quite good in Les Miserables. And I think I have his version of "Come What May." Wikipedia says he's British and his full name is Alfred Giovanni Roncalli Boe, so it's no wonder he goes by Alfie. He's 37. He's recorded three albums, so if you like him, you should probably buy them.

les miserablesalfie
Well, as I said, Alfie was quote good in Les Miserables.
If you were asking about a crossover fan fiction between Les Mis and the movie Alfie, I'm afraid I don't know of any.
If you were asking about a man whose name is Les Miserable Salfie, I feel really bad for him but can't find any more information about him.

most ridiculous love songs
That's a really tough call. The Bible Sherpa has a pretty decent list here, though. Love-at-first-sight stalker songs are always pretty ridiculous. People should leave suggestions for this in the comments, since I'm clearly having trouble thinking of any.

on glee the football team performed which song
Well, it depends on what episode you're talking about. They danced to "Single Ladies" (which was on my "Most Ridiculous Glee Song Performances" list) way back in season one, but this season they also all sang a fairly awesome mashup of "Thriller/Heads Will Roll." And at this point the football team includes EVERYONE, including all the glee club girls.

so ridiculous song
I'm pretty sure all of Weebl's songs can be categorized as "so ridiculous." However, the most ridiculous song ever is almost certainly "Hate Me Please" from the musical Robert and Elizabeth. That whole musical is ludicrous and written as awkwardly as it can possibly be. Also, any of those most ridiculous love songs could probably fall in this category too.

I hope that has been helpful to all you googlers. Keep searching for stuff and maybe you'll find me - then check back later to see if I answered your question!
